Suikogaiden Translation Project Wiki subdivision

ATTENTION: All proofreaders! :D

Postby RinUzuki » Thu Jun 23, 2011 6:18 pm

Hello, everyone!

As you know, we're attempting to transfer the Suikogaiden 1 script to a Wiki website, so that we can better integrate everyone's work and suggestions over the past year, when things have gotten so hectic on my end that I haven't been able to keep up with all the suggestions everyone has made!

Through Rufas' diligent efforts, the Wiki is up and running, and he's even created a video to help us navigate the process of using the wiki! Everybody, a big round of applause for dear old Rufas! What would we do without you?!

Indeed, what would this project be without any of you? Everyone, thank you so much for sticking with this project through the thick and the thin! Things may seem almost unbearably slow at the moment, but let's pick things back up and get this project done! Let's make Suikogaiden 1 available to play in English for once and all!

Creating this wiki is something that probably should have been done long before now, and I apologize for all the delays.
But I suppose that's one of the hazards that comes along with these amateur projects, eh? The important thing is that we do our best to continue our efforts and complete this project!

So. On to the main point.
Proofreaders, are you willing to take all of your most recent suggestions--the ones that haven't been updated to the script--and move them over to the new Wiki, under their proper place?

I need to know if you guys are willing to do this, so please post with an aye or a nay!

If you are willing to help out, that would take a huge load off of my shoulders, and allow me to focus on trying to help organize the technical side of things and translating chapter 3. It would also help make the Wiki system make more sense, because if I do all the posting, then it will list all suggestions as made by "RinUzuki", which will be horribly confusing...

If you're not willing to transfer all your suggestions, I understand, but at least post saying that you're not, so I'll know whose posts I should try to look through individually.

We need you guys now more than ever!
Let's get this system up and running efficiently!
If we make it a success, we can even use it for Suikogaiden 2!
(Providing we can complete Suikogaiden 1, haha.)

Thank you again for all your support over the years, and be sure to post with a yes or a no! :3
We love you guys!

Hey Rin ;p. Question - how much have you modified some of your original translations with suggestions (like the translations posted under the 'translation' section of this site lol)? I'm wondering just in case posting any suggestions to the new Wiki would be redundant. It's been awhile, so I can't exactly remember how much the 'original' rough stuff has already been modified. In any case, I still have all of my stuff saved in notepad docs.

Hey, Dksu!!

Just to clarify, when you say "post new suggestions to the wiki", do you mean posting new suggestions that have never been made, or re-posting suggestions that have already been made here on the forums, but not yet incorporated into the script?

And that question itself may actually help to answer the question I think you might be asking...

For awhile, I was able to keep up with all the suggestions made here in the forums, and incorporate (or not incorporate) them into the script. But in recent times, I'd gotten flooded, and was no longer able to keep amending the script to match all the suggestions.

So, a lot of the suggestions that have been made in, say, the past six months, have not been properly added to the script/considered.

However! That is exactly what we're trying to do, now, using the Wiki!

We want to take all of the suggestions people have made, and sort of add them to the Wiki version of the script as suggestions.

Make sense so far? Sound like you might be up for helping out? XD

I went over to the Wiki to do some editing at long last (gah, how long has it been since I was useful? (was I ever?)) and it looked like there weren't any other posted suggestions? I don't know, maybe I was doing it wrong? I looked at the history page for most of the chapters, though, and there didn't seem to be many names on them...

Uh, anyway, I posted a little on the first section of Chapter 3. Was I doing it wrong, or was it okay?

Hey, Sierra! We're still figuring out the Wiki!
Let's go take a look....

ooh, okay! First, I confirmed you as a member, though it says you haven't confirmed your e-mail address yet (so you won't be notified of the acceptance via e-mail). Let's see... hmm... You said you made your suggestion on chapter 3? Hm... I don't see it. Ahh, you know, I should just upload all my new translations for chapter 3! We've still only got Sage's old work up there!

P.S. And you've most definitely been useful!
Thank you again!!

@Rin you can check them through here:

http://suikogaiden.wikispaces.com/wiki/changes

Sierra had updated one page on S1_3_1, and then 4 hours later you made 2 edits on it. From the looks on History, it seems you deleted it...

http://suikogaiden.wikispaces.com/page/ ... /283550534

(NOTE: Just click on "Older Version" to see what Sierra have added. It's there. I saw them.)
